Gifts for Mum

Updated: Jul 8

Mums are one of the most special people in our lives from the day we are born, and whilst we should look after them all year, it's especially nice to shower them with some love. I've compiled here a gift guide to give you lots of ideas. As we are all aware, costs are at the forefront of many people's minds, and to help, I've split the guide into three sections, to suit all budgets.

Simply click the photographs below to be directed straight to the business' respective website.

Under £10

All the items set out below are £10 or under, perfect for those on a tight budget.

Doesn't every Mum love chocolate? I know me and mine do, and how cute are these from Freddielicious?! With prices starting at just £1.60, it will keep your bank balance sweet too!

Something a little funny and quirky? These coasters from Me & Thee will do just the job. With a dictionary inspired design explaining Derbyshire slang and a colourful design, they'll bring a smile to anyone's face. Coasters are £4.75 but these designs are available on a number of products such as mugs, totes and calendars.

Just "a little something" to show your Mum what she means to you, these delightful ceramic hangers from Hannah Jane Designs are the perfect job, and coming in at a more than reasonable £8.

Middle Range

With prices ranging from £12 to £25, this section is based on the 'average' spend for Mother's Day.

We all agree that a bouquet of flowers is a lovely gift, but a week later they're starting to wilt and look a little sad. Why not treat Mum to flowers that will last. These dried flowers from Lavender & Bloom (prices starting from £14) and hand crafted wire flowers from Wire Botanical (daisy bouquet £20), will last long past the end of March.

Candles will always be a winner in my eyes, the gorgeous scents, warming ambience and then if you're anything like me, a beautiful pot to upcycle at the end. Even better, Peak District Candle Co offer candle re-fills that you just pop straight into your empty jar! With a wide Mother's Day and Spring range, you'll definitely find a scent that makes you drift off somewhere relaxing. Off duty when lit - £15

Jewellery handmade here in Derbyshire, with a wide range from studs to hoops starting at just £8. This tortoiseshell chic pair from TINK jewellery has my name alllllll over it and will most likely be going straight in my basket.

What better to treat your Mum to than a bit of self care? Build your own boxes from La Zouch Soaps are a wonderful way to hand pick each item included, suited to personal preference of scents and product types. The set pictured, which would come in a gift box would be £14.

Twinning is WINNING, am I right? Shown here is just one of many designs available from Phoebe Hope UK where you can match with your mini me. The adult sweatshirt shown is £24.99 and the child one £16.99.

Luxury Gifting

A personalised family print based on you and your family's characteristics and members. These beautiful prints from Mini & Maxii are a gift that will stay with you for many years to come and be treasured by all. Prices start at £40 and increase based on the number of characters pictured.

The exquisite handmade leather bags and gifts available from Orgill Originals are sure to go down a treat with any Mum. With prices starting at £37 for a clutch, it definitely is a luxury treat for someone special.

What better gift for your Mum than the gift of time, quality time together to be precise. Ruby Holmes Ware offers a range of pottery classes where you can learn a new skill and laugh a lot at the same time. With prices starting at £90 you could be wrapping up a gift voucher this Mother's Day.

Another option for the gift of time, but also memories to last forever would be with a family photoshoot. Amy Elizabeth Photo, based locally in Derbyshire, offers gift vouchers for any value, which can be put towards a family shoot, with prices starting at £200. I think this is a beautiful idea for any family, but especially those with younger children because as the saying goes, the days can be long but the years are short, and before you know it, those little children will be grown and leaving home, but you'll always have the photos to look back on.

I hope you find this guide helpful, and if you did manage to make a purchase from one of these wonderful small businesses, please add a comment below as I'd love to know what you loved too!
